Now in its 8th year, the Ormewood Park Makers Festival, presented by SAND, seeks to showcase our local makers as well as provide an opportunity for community participation, learning and celebration.
Audience: The Makers Festival is a family event, with programming designed for attendees of all ages and interests. We also welcome dogs provided they’re leashed and properly managed onsite.
Key Elements: In addition to the traditional elements of a neighborhood street festival (artist booths, food vendors, musical acts and attendee experiences), the Makers Fest prides itself on our hands-on Workshops by local artisans and experts. This interactive component enables an engaging, informative experience for the vendors and attendees alike.
Previous Participant Mix: The Makers Festival includes a balanced mix of vendors to provide an enriching experience for attendees.
Artists/Makers: 60-70 booths featuring fine/folk art; jewelry; pottery; handcrafted soaps/candles, woodwork and furniture; garments and clothing; pet-related goods; vintage artifacts and more
Workshops: 10-12 sessions from professionals educating attendees on a wide range of interests
Bands: 6-7 bands on our main stage; approx 5-6 on our two new satellite stages. Music styles include: Blues; R&B/Funk; Singer/songwriter; youth-oriented; Country/Americana, and Rock & Roll
Food & Beverage Options: 15-18 different vendors selling a wide range of cuisines and beverages, including beer, wine and spirits for attendees over 21 years of age
Non-profits: 10-12 local organizations use the Fest to present and connect with attendees on a wide range of interests and endeavors
Previous Attendance: The Makers Festival has seen continual increases in attendance every year with last year’s event attracting approx. 3K-4K attendees.
Host Organization: The Makers Fest is presented by SAND (South Atlantans for Neighborhood Development), an umbrella organization formed in 1979 to serve the residents and businesses of the South East Atlanta neighborhoods between Grant Park and East Atlanta. The Makers Fest host site is the Ormewood Church located at 1071 Delaware Avenue in the heart of Ormewood Park.
